Julen Lopetegui faces an extremely uncertain future in charge of West Ham United.
West Ham brought Julen Lopetegui to the London Stadium in the summer, and the Hammers head coach proceeded to bring nine new players into the club.
However, things haven’t quite gone to plan for the Spaniard, and he faces the sack if things don’t go well against Everton later today.
The football on display has been truly painful to watch at times this season, and that’s certainly not what we all wanted after David Moyes left.
The Hammers fans wanted to see some real progress this term regarding the quality of football, and that just hasn’t happened.
We also wanted to see a big improvement in results, especially after some of the players that were signed back in the summer.
Unfortunately for us though, it seems like we’ve regressed, and a managerial change could well be in the offing imminently.
Manager told to take West Ham job if Julen Lopetegui is sacked
The former Wolves boss seems completely clueless as to how to turn things around.
That’s the most worrying thing – there is no clear plan and the team painfully lacks any kind of footballing identity.

I’m all for backing a manager through a transition period, but there has to be at least small signs of progress, surely?
If Lopetegui is moved on, Jose Mourinho is one name that has been doing the rounds as a potential replacement for the Spaniard.
The 61-year-old was heavily linked with taking over as the new West Ham manager in the summer, but he moved out to Turkey to fill the Fenerbahce hot-seat in the end.
And now, Darren Bent has told Mourinho that West Ham would be a great option for him, if he is indeed interested in moving back to the Premier League.
Bent explained how the Hammers are the perfect club for Jose, when speaking on talkSPORT.
“Would I like to see him (Jose Mourinho) in the Premier League again? Absolutely. Absolutely. I think there are clubs out there definitely that will take him in the Premier League. I think West Ham fans are not happy with Lopetegui, I think.”
He added: “West Ham is the one where you go, they are underachieving. West Ham, with the money they spent in the summer, even I was a bit like, Lopetegui and these players, top eight. Minimum has to be top eight. The fact they are where they are in the league, West Ham are currently what 14th, they have got established internationals in their squad. Underachieving. So I think Jose for West Ham.”
I actually agree with Bent – I think Jose would be perfect for us.
He’s a proven winner, with eight league titles and two Champions Leagues to his name, and the players at the London Stadium would instantly respect him.
He’d be a far better option for West Ham than Julen Lopetegui, that is not up for debate as far as I’m concerned.
Whether David Sullivan would be prepared to commit to an expensive contract for Mourinho is highly doubtful though, unfortunately.
