The only positive from West Ham’s dreadful day was that Tottenham hit a new low against Nottingham Forest.
The Hammers missed a golden opportunity to climb out of the bottom three with a victory over out-of-form Aston Villa.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side lost 2-0 after a below-par performance, but at least they were not as bad as Spurs were.
Thankfully for West Ham, the North London club continue to show no improvement, and two key figures were particularly upset.

A very underwhelming Villa Park defeat! 🙄
Describe THAT performance in one word…
West Ham can take encouragement from Tottenham’s 3-0 defeat
Tottenham captain Cristian Romero and first-team coach Bruno Saltor shared the same reaction to their 3-0 defeat.
Both were disappointed that Spurs had put in another embarrassing performance in front of their home supporters.
“The season is tough, especially in this moment,” Romero said to Sky Sports. “Another very bad [result] for us, another loss at home.
“It is painful. It is a sad day, but the most important thing is to go to the national team, then come back here for the final seven finals.”

Meanwhile, Bruno explained, “Every mistake right now is going against us, every detail is going against us, and it affects the players as well. It hurts us, it is painful, really painful.”
The word “painful” will be music to West Ham fans’ ears, as it sums up Spurs’ hopeless run of form.
They have not won a single league game in 2026 and look like they are destined for relegation, despite the Hammers’ slip-up.
Nuno’s side will soon have an amazing opportunity to overtake their London rivals when they play Wolves after the international break.
This would push Spurs into the relegation zone and make them feel even worse about their situation.
