Despite a heavy summer of spending, some problem positions remain at West Ham.
One is definitely defensive midfield, and another issue is potentially developing at left-back. Aaron Cresswell was reliable at centre-half in a back five last season, but endured a shocking start to the season.
That got the Englishman dropped in favour of Arthur Masuaku. The Congolese defender offers energy going forward but lacks defensive instincts; his failure to track Glenn Murray cost West Ham dearly against Brighton last week. Perhaps he is better off as a winger.
That got West Ham fans think about the January window and who they might like to see fielded at left-back.
Popular choice

One name that kept coming up was Ryan Bertrand. The experienced Englishman is currently with a struggling Southampton side; they are devoid of identity and going nowhere fast under Mark Hughes.
He would likely not be cheap – Transfermarkt value him at £18m – but that hasn’t put the supporters off…
