West Ham United fans on social media have delivered their response to Hammers News after Aston Villa beat Nottingham Forest in the Europa League semi-finals on Thursday night.

Indeed, West Ham fans were furious with Villa after they made seven changes from the team who lost the first leg to Forest for their Premier League clash with Tottenham on Sunday.

Villa were dreadful against Spurs, who claimed a 2-1 win that helped drop West Ham back into the relegation zone following their defeat to Brentford.

Imaging you’re in Nuno’s shoes; Who are you bringing in to face Arsenal? 👞

It’s understandable as to why Irons fans would be annoyed given emotions are running high right now, although Unai Emery’s plan did work as they thumped Forest 4-0 to overturn a 1-0 defeat in the first leg to reach the Europa League final.

Hammers News asked their followers on Facebook exactly what they made of it all.

The website asked a very simple question: “How did you feel watching Aston Villa smash Nottingham Forest on Thursday night after all their changes vs Tottenham?!”

West Ham fans refuse to blame Aston Villa for their predicament

The response was emphatic. Many supporters believe that West Ham have no one to blame but themselves for the situation they are in.

One of the responses read: “We can’t moan about weak opposition team selections simply because it’s affected us with a few games to go. We should have been well clear of the drop zone but we’re not. That’s the real issue.”

How do you FEEL about West Ham wanting to keep Nuno next season? 😳

Another fan said: “We did the same when we were playing in Europe. Games over now we move on and concentrate on our own games.”

“Sick. But it isn’t Villa’s fault we’re starting at relegation,” was another comment.

“[Alan] Pardew did similar things on our way to the 2006 [FA] cup final, we only moan when it goes against us,” read this response.

One supporter said: “We benefitted when Man U did the same last day of the great escape.”

One fan put it in plain terms: “Our job is to beat Arsenal, that’s it.”

Clearly, it would have been nice for Villa to do West Ham a favour, but that is really not their obligation.

An established Premier League team packed full of international footballers really shouldn’t need a team to do them any favours 35 games into a season.

Their own defeat to Brentford, like so many other poor results across the course of what has largely been a miserable campaign, is what could seal this team’s fate over the next few weeks.
