West Ham fans aimed a new chant at subbed Arsenal star Declan Rice during the impressive win over Brighton.

West Ham went top of the fledgling Premier League table with an impressive 3-1 win away at much-hyped Brighton while Arsenal were held to a frustrating draw at home to 10-man Fulham.

The victory ended West Ham’s ridiculous hoodoo against the Seagulls as they earned their first ever Premier League win over them and only a second top flight triumph against the seasiders since 1983.

And as they did it West Ham fans could not resist a little dig at departed skipper Declan Rice.

With Arsenal drawing 2-2 against 10-man Fulham at home and desperately seeking a winner, Mikel Arteta substituted his £105m man.

That did not go unnoticed over in east London, especially as Rice has not stopped bleating about playing a more attacking role at Arsenal and adding goals to his game under Arteta like his idols Yaya Toure and Steven Gerrard.

When the Hammers went 3-0 up at the Amex, supporters sent a cheeky message to the Arsenal man.

After being goaded relentlessly by Gunners fans, can you blame West Ham supporters for giving some back

“Are you watching Declan Rice” was the roar of the Hammers faithful at Brighton.

The chant rang out at the end of the game too.

And can you blame them? It hasn’t been easy to watch Gunners fans mock them after snatching away their crown jewel.

Rice’s comments about seeing football in a completely different way have stung West Ham fans too.

So who can blame supporters for having a little tongue-in-cheek dig at their former talisman?

All’s fair in love and war…

Say we are top of the league, say we are top of the league.
