A leading West Ham fan group has announced a major decision on plans for their latest protest for the final day crunch clash with Leeds United.

As many predicted, the Premier League relegation battle has gone down to the final day and West Ham know what needs to happen to survive.

Tottenham had the chance to relegate the Hammers if they got a result at Chelsea.

But a 2-1 defeat means West Ham will stay up if they beat Leeds at the London Stadium on Sunday and Spurs lose at home to Everton.

The Hammers will be hoping for a huge favour from former manager David Moyes – but the big worry is Everton have nothing to play for and were dreadful in defeat to Sunderland last weekend.

That being said, where there is life, there is hope.

WE’RE STILL ALIVE 😍😍 How has Tottenham’s defeat made YOU feel about our survival chances?!

Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in! 😂

And although it is often said it is the hope that kills you when it comes to West Ham, stranger things have happened in football than the Hammers beating Leeds at home and Tottenham losing to Everton, who until last weekend had a chance of making Europe.

While Nuno Espirito Santo has been criticised for his tactics and team selections and fans turned on West Ham’s players for the first time after defeat at Newcastle.

Nuno has defended West Ham fans over their angry reaction towards him and the team.

Deep down, most supporters lay the blame for the club’s mess squarely at the door of the owners.

West Ham fans have been protesting against the board all season long.

The ultimate aim has been to force David Sullivan and Karren Brady out of the club.

It was a case of one down, one to go for protesting fans when Brady resigned with immediate effect recently. That came just weeks after Brady had called on everyone at West Ham, from the boardroom to the terraces, to rally together to avoid relegation.

With West Ham looking all but certs for the drop after the loss at Newcastle, many supporters were gearing up to stage their most vociferous protest against the owners yet when Leeds come to town on the final day.

How do YOU feel about Jarrod Bowen as a West Ham United captain….

Clearly a legend but a few dissenting voices 👀

But the leading West Ham fan group behind the uprising has announced a major decision on the protest for the Leeds clash.

Paul ‘Bubbles’ Colborne, chair of Hammers United, says a decision has ‘reluctantly’ been taken to call off Sunday’s planned protests after listening to pleas from supporters.

The announcement was made on Wednesday morning, after Tottenham’s defeat to Chelsea kept West Ham’s survival hopes alive.

“Morning all, last night and already this morning we have received many requests not to protest on Sunday,” Colborne said.

“Reluctantly we will suspend the protests for this game only.

“Protests will continue until Sullivan steps aside and it is still very much a situation of one down one to go.

“Thanks to all of you for your help throughout the season and we keep going.

“Enjoy Sunday. COYI and NO MORE BS!”

While some supporters may feel the decision lets Sullivan and the board off the hook, it is probably the right call to fully focus on getting behind the team.

The last thing West Ham fans want is for the media to be able to put any of the blame on them should the team not beat Leeds.

All Premier League games kick off at the same time, 4pm, on the final day.

West Ham will hope they can take the lead against Leeds to pile more pressure on Spurs as word filters through to north London.

Victory for West Ham would see Nuno’s side end the season on 39 points. If that happens but Spurs draw they will relegate the Hammers on goal difference.

Should Tottenham lose they will finish on 38 points, one below the Hammers if they are victorious.
