According to BBC Sport, it’s believed that West Ham are expected to look for someone who has a deep knowledge of the Championship.
Quite who that is remains to be seen but the report does add that whoever does replace Hahn is likely to have more control than Hahn did.

Indeed, West Ham have ambitions of an instant return to the Premier League, and they will need to get their recruitment right.
With that in mind, it feels wise to turn to an expert in that particular division. The Championship might now be more sophisticated than it used to be, but there’s nothing quite like second tier experience.
West Ham’s recruitment model has been flawed to say the least. So many signings haven’t worked out, and they cannot afford for that to happen again.
Given the finances involved, it is imperative that the club get promoted right away. That’s easier said than done of course, but the right recruitment decisions can make it a realistic possibility.
