Manchester United could be about to ruin one of West Ham United’s key summer transfer window plans.
The summer transfer window has already been a successful one for West Ham head coach Julen Lopetegui, but now Manchester United could prevent it from becoming a perfect one.
The Hammers and Man United are already intertwined in one transfer battle, with Lopetegui desperately trying to bring Aaron Wan-Bissaka to the London Stadium.
However, the two Premier League clubs could be set to face off with one another once again, regarding a completely different deal.

Despite the fact that Lopetegui has already drastically strengthened his ranks at West Ham, one area that still needs improvement is his central midfield department.
The perfect solution to our lack of options in the middle of the park is out there waiting for us, but Man United could be about to deal us a major problem…
Manchester United move to sign West Ham target Youssouf Fofana
According to a report from Gianluca Di Marzio, Manchester United are now keen to sign long-term West Ham target Youssouf Fofana this summer.
It was claimed just last week that the Hammers had made a £30 million bid for the French midfield bulldozer, but he wanted to join AC Milan instead.
So that was the first blow for West Ham, but now Manchester United’s interest in signing him could end our hopes entirely.
Man United definitely will be able to match Monaco’s demands for Fofana, and losing out to the Red Devils in the race to sign the midfield powerhouse would hurt badly.
The 25-year-old has an incredible physique, but he’s not all about pace and power. The Frenchman is very good with the ball at his feet as well, and has been described as an ‘unreal’ midfielder by Monaco’s official website.

In 32 outings for Monaco last season, Fofana bagged four goals and four assists. During those appearances, he averaged 1.9 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and one clearance per game (Who Scored).
With his pace, power, energy, dynamism and athleticism, the Monaco midfielder would be the ideal addition to the Hammers’ midfield ranks this summer, and his skillset would compliment Edson Alvarez perfectly.
What an incredible addition he would be for the Hammers – I would go as far as to say that he would complete us as a team.
However, it now seems highly likely that Manchester United are in a much better position to sign Youssouf Fofana than West Ham in the summer transfer window.
And that hurts badly.
