There is no love lost between West Ham and Tottenham fans.

Traditionally the Hammers and Spurs don’t get on.

Whether it is supporters teasing and tormenting one another, the clubs fighting over a stadium or going through the courts over an alleged spying scandal (BBC Sport).

No love lost between West Ham and Spurs as Hammers battle rivals for Champions League spot

Even this season Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho stoked the fire. The Portuguese dismissed West Ham’s chances of maintaining their position above Spurs.

The rivalry between West Ham and Spurs has grown bigger over the Premier League era.

Tottenham fans claim they are not bothered by West Ham. Just like Arsenal fans used to claim they were not bothered about Spurs.

The truth is they are. And this season West Ham have upped the ante by disrupting the top six and challenging the likes of Spurs, Chelsea and Liverpool for the Champions League spots.

West Ham will move back into fourth place with seven games to play if they beat Leicester at the London Stadium this afternoon.

West Ham could be the reason Harry Kane leaves Tottenham

And if David Moyes’s side do end up beating Tottenham to the last Champions League spot, they look set to earn some serious bragging rights along with it.

Because it would be what forces Spurs talisman Harry Kane to leave the club.

That’s according to a new report from The Athletic – as also reported by Sky Sports.

The reports claim Kane is expected to tell Tottenham he wants to leave if they fail to qualify for the Champions League next season.

As first reported by The Athletic, Kane is becoming increasingly concerned at Tottenham’s failure to compete for major trophies.

“The 27-year-old will not make a final decision on his future until after the European Championship this summer, at which he will captain England,” the report states.

“The news that Kane is considering his future is likely to trigger interest from the biggest clubs, both in England and across Europe.

Man City mooted as possible destination for Kane and West Ham fans would revel in bragging rights

“Manchester City could be looking to sign a new striker this summer, with Sergio Aguero leaving at the end of his contract. Pep Guardiola has made no secret of his admiration for Kane, previously describing him as ‘incredible’.”

West Ham themselves will be looking to sign at least one – if not two – new strikers in the summer.

Clearly Kane won’t be anywhere near Moyes’s shopping list.

But West Ham fans would certainly revel in the fact they had a big part to play in him leaving.
