Former manager David Moyes pledged to implement a Red Bull model at West Ham and now the club have taken that to the next level.

In the end David Moyes’ preference for the tried and tested meant Jarrod Bowen was the closest the club ever got to emulating the famous club recruitment model.

Back in 2017 Red Bull were actually linked with a £650m West Ham takeover too, as reported at the time by the likes of The Telegraph.

There has been much speculation that West Ham are on the hunt for a new sponsor.

With gambling companies set to be banned from shirts in the near future, the Hammers will have to find an alternative to Betway eventually.

West Ham have also been offering to help their London Stadium owners to find a naming rights partner.

Those deals – and their value – are becoming increasingly crucial in the modern game with the spectre of PSR looming over clubs.

West Ham were busy in the summer window, pulling off nine big deals.

Well now the club has agreed another one.

And it may just open up future sponsorship opportunities given the situation with gambling firms and PSR.

A pre-cursor to future sponsorship possibilities?

West Ham have announced a ‘multi-year’ deal with one of the world’s biggest firms Red Bull.

The drinks giant will now have its branding front and centre in and around the London Stadium for Hammers games.

The firm’s drinks will also now be available for West Ham fans to purchase at the stadium on matchdays.

In a statement West Ham said they are proud to announce the deal.

“The multi-year partnership will see the Austrian drinks company become the Official Energy Drink Partner of the Club, helping to fuel elite performance across our men’s and women’s teams,” West Ham announced on their website.

“Red Bull will benefit from global exposure at Hammers fixtures, with highly visible in-stadia branding at London Stadium and the Chigwell Construction Stadium. Red Bull will also supply product to the men’s and women’s teams playing and coaching staff, with product also available for supporters to purchase from stadium concourse sales points on matchday.”

West Ham say they will be creating compelling content for fans through the partnership.

West Ham United’s Chief Commercial Officer, Nathan Thompson, said: “We are extremely proud to announce our partnership with Red Bull. It is fantastic to welcome the world’s biggest energy drink company to our growing family of valued partners.

“We look forward to a mutually beneficial and successful partnership for both organisations, our teams and our fans over the coming years.”

Could this be a pre-cursor to future West Ham sponsorship possibilities? Time will tell.
