Reports have been claiming Mohammed Kudus aimed a cocky dig at West Ham over Spurs signing Mateus Fernandes from his former club.

West Ham were mercilessly goaded by Spurs, their fans and even Mohammed Kudus himself when the north Londoners signed the Ghanaian last summer.

The Hammers were taunted by Tottenham Hotspur’s official media team when they signed Kudus in a £54.5m deal last summer.

Kudus was christened ‘Judus’ by West Ham fans for pushing to join fierce rivals Tottenham before declaring ‘he only wanted Spurs’ and that he had ‘Tottenham in his heart’ when the deal was done.

Spurs were soon eating humble pie, though, as Kudus flopped with just three goals in 26 appearances before suffering an injury which kept him out for the second half of the season.

It was a season which almost gave West Ham the last laugh, as Spurs were dragged into a straight shootout relegation battle with the Hammers.

Unfortunately it was a battle Tottenham won on the final day of the season as West Ham missed out on Premier League survival by a solitary victory.

That has enabled Spurs to come back to West Ham to sign brilliant midfield ace Mateus Fernandes for £85m – only the second transfer between the two clubs in 15-and-a-half years.

Whatever one’s stance on Kudus as a player, there is no doubting he can be a match-winner on his day and he could shine under Roberto De Zerbi.

But some fans questioned his character and whether he was a team player.

Kudus also disappointed Hammers supporters with his comments after jumping ship for Tottenham.

Did Kudus really aim cocky swipe at West Ham over Fernandes?

Now it has been claimed Kudus has aimed a cocky dig at West Ham over Spurs signing Fernandes.

After taunting the Hammers when he left for Tottenham last summer, Kudus is alleged to have belittled West Ham with his response to Fernandes joining the club.

According to Sport Digest and Hakimi Soccer, Kudus is said to have responded on Instagram saying: “Welcome to the Lane, Matheus. Another baller joins the family… Some clubs lose stars, others collect them. SpursFamily #NorthLondonRising #COYS.”

But Hammers News can find absolutely no evidence of Kudus saying anything of the sort.

We scoured the responses to Tottenham and Fernandes’ posts regarding his switch from West Ham to Tottenham.

And, as yet, there is no such comment – or any reaction of any kind for that matter – from Kudus.

It is unclear whether Kudus made the comment and then perhaps deleted it.

Given his actions after leaving the Hammers last year, we’d have no problem sticking the boot in on Kudus if he had made such a patronising jibe at his old club.

But he should probably be given the benefit of the doubt in this instance.
