The English duo in two-way race to replace Julen Lopetegui at West Ham

Julen Lopetegui is facing an extremely uncertain future at West Ham United right now.

The Spaniard has failed to oversee any kind of progress whatsoever at the London Stadium, but he has still been given one more game to save his job.

West Ham made a big mistake appointing Julen Lopetegui in the first place as far as I’m concerned.

He was never the man we needed to take us to another level.

If West Ham fail to beat Wolves at the London Stadium tonight, it will undoubtedly be game over for the Hammers head coach.

And the trophy-laden Max Allegri is now one of the names being touted as a potential replacement for Lopetegui.

However, it seems like it is two British managers who are actually now leading the charge for the Hammers hot-seat.

Two-way race to replace Julen Lopetegui at West Ham

Everything up in the air at West Ham right now.

Anything but a win, along with a good performance as well, will see Lopetegui moved on from the London Stadium.

And it has now come to light that two English managers are leading the race to replace him.

According to Claret and Hugh, there is now a two-way race for the West Ham United job.

And the candidates will both be very well-known to the Hammers fans.

Graham Potter and Michael Carrick are said to be in a two-way race to replace Lopetegui.

Both would implement far more attractive playing styles than Lopetegui has been able to do.

Carrick and Potter both favour a possession-based system, with the emphasis being on ball retention and players creating space for their teammates with constant movement.

I can’t envisage a scenario whereby Julen Lopetegui is still in charge of West Ham by the time that Christmas rolls around.

And if one of Carrick or Potter replace him, I’ll be more than happy.
