West Ham played their part in a little bit of history when they became the first team to visit Luton Town’s Kenilworth Road in the Premier League on Friday night.
Luton’s start to life at home on their fairytale return to the top flight had been delayed while their famous old ground was hastily redeveloped to meet Premier League requirements.
And Luton welcomed West Ham there for the big day.
But a section of the home support let their club down when West Ham and the Sky Sports cameras came to town.

In the first half some Luton fans chanted about Bowen’s fiancee – reality TV star Dani Dyer – in disgraceful fashion.
In response to West Ham fans singing “Champions of Europe, we know what we are” some Luton fans sang to the same tune “Jarrod Bowen, your girlfriend’s a w—e” several times over.
There’s football banter and fun and games but that is crossing the line.
And not nice for Dyer’s West Ham fanatic dad Danny to hear either.
But Bowen responded in the best possible way, heading home Lucas Paqueta’s exquisite far post cross on 37 minutes.
Bowen and Hammers have the last laugh
The Hammers ace then raced away cupping his ears to the Hatters supporters and gesturing for them to shush.
Kurt Zouma added a second late on. But Luton responded after some dismal defending from a long hopeful ball forward to make it 2-1.
There was a late scare with a penalty shout for handball. But West Ham managed to hold on. And in doing so returned to the top of the fledgling Premier League table.
Much was made of Luton’s famous atmosphere. But the minority let the majority down at the old girl.
