A Sky Sports reporter has lifted the lid on the London club tight-lipped AZ Alkmaar boss Pascal Jansen supports and it’s not West Ham.

West Ham face AZ Alkmaar in Holland bidding to make it to the Europa Conference League final on Thursday night.

As fans well know, the Hammers hold a slender advantage having come from behind to beat AZ Alkmaar 2-1 at the London Stadium.

AZ’s manager Pascal Jansen, who was born in London, has not been shy saying what he thinks around the tie.

AZ boss was born in London and lived in Hendon

The Dutchman was confident ahead of the first leg, vowing to attack West Ham and playing down their victory over Man United the weekend before.

After the defeat at the London Stadium, Jansen said he felt his team were the better side and was confident of turning the game around in Holland.

His confidence was clearly enhanced by AZ’s 5-1 victory over lowly FC Emmen in their latest league encounter at the weekend.

The Hendon-born manager declared AZ Alkmaar have given an important signal to West Ham ahead of the crunch Euro semi-final second leg.

In his pre-match press conference, Jansen was quizzed on whether he supports a London club having been born there.

But he was coy and refused to say.

When asked whether it was West Ham he replied: ‘It could be’.

Now a Sky Sports reporter has lifted the lid on the London club tight-lipped AZ Alkmaar boss Jansen supports and it’s not West Ham.

It is in fact Arsenal.

Gunning for revenge after Hammers dented Arsenal’s title bid?

Speaking on Sky Sports News on Thursday lunchtime, Gary Cotterill made the Arsenal revelation having spoken to Jansen off air at the press conference.

West Ham will be hoping Jansen is not plotting revenge for the Hammers playing their part in wrecking Arsenal’s title dream.

The Hammers powered back from 2-0 down against Mikel Arteta’s Gunners to draw 2-2 and were unfortunate not to win.

That came after Arsenal had let slip a 2-0 lead to Liverpool to draw 2-2. And a week after the Hammers clash, Arsenal drew 3-3 at home against Southampton.

But many see Arsenal’s collapse against West Ham as the turning point in the title race as that officially enabled Man City to overtake the Gunners with their game in hand.

Once Arsenal fans get wind of Jansen’s allegiance they will undoubtedly be willing him on after what the Hammers did to their title bid.
