Sam Allardyce has waxed lyrical over a West Ham defender after what he has seen of him in the Premier League.
The former Hammers boss has a soft spot for the London Stadium outfit and has been keeping tabs on the team ever since he was in charge of them.
The 71-year-old has been out of work since his brief stint at Leeds United.

Allardyce believes Aaron Wan-Bissaka gets too much stick
Big Sam has been speaking about Aaron Wan-Bissaka and his impact on West Ham United.
After impressing at Crystal Palace, the DR Congo international earned himself a big-money move to Manchester United.
TEN games into the Nuno era, how would you sum up his impact?
What has he done right, and what has he done wrong?
He stood out at Palace for his defensive efforts and was extremely good at one-on-one defending at Old Trafford as well.
However, the Red Devils wanted more from him and kept asking him to attack and deliver crosses into the box.
That did not suit his style of play and he was often the second choice to Diogo Dalot, who is better going forward but not so good defensively.
At West Ham, despite playing as a wing-back on occasion, he has not looked out of place and is one of the first names on the team sheet for Nuno Espirito Santo.
Speaking on No Tippy Tappy Football, Allardyce said: “Wan-Bissaka was battered at Man United because he couldn’t play. He was the best defensive full-back in the league.
“He’s the best stopper of crosses. He was the best at winning possession back. Why does he need to get forward when you’re playing for Man United when he should just give it to that midfield player or that wide man or that centre forward and that’s his job done?
“But no, no, no, no. He’s got to do this that and the other. Gary Neville couldn’t do it. Gary Neville couldn’t wasn’t great going forward. Wasn’t great at crossing. But he was really good at defending.”
Jamie Carragher was also a fan of the West Ham United man
Jamie Carragher, being a Liverpool legend, is not known to say too many complimentary things about Manchester United players.
However, back in 2020, when the right-back was at Old Trafford, Carragher waxed lyrical over his defensive abilities.
He even went on to refer to him as the best full-back in the world when it comes to defending.
In his view, at that time, there was not a single attacker in Europe who would get the better of him.
Carragher said: “I actually think Wan-Bissaka is the best one-on-one defender for a full-back in the world. I don’t think anyone would get the better of him.”
While the 28-year-old is not the best in Europe at this stage, he is still an extremely tough defender to play against and the Hammers are fortunate to have him at the club.
