A reporter close to David Sullivan has responded to a journalist’s claims about West Ham’s grand David Moyes succession plan.

They say ‘don’t believe everything you read in the papers’ and much of the time – especially when it comes to football and West Ham – that seems to be about right.

But they also say ‘there’s no smoke without fire’ – just to muddy the water.

Well it seems one particular Hammers insider has had his fill of the reporting of one journalist and outlet regarding David Moyes and his future at West Ham.

A reporter close to David Sullivan has responded to a journalist’s claims about West Ham’s grand Moyes succession plan.

And he hasn’t held back.

Reporter responds to claims about Moyes plan

Claret and Hugh’s Hughie Southon was prompted to respond to a recent story by The Daily Mail’s chief football reporter Sami Mokbel.

Mokbel has claimed Moyes is expected to leave West Ham next summer and that the Hammers hierarchy would have parted company with the Scot had he not won the Europa Conference League in June.

Speaking to his key contact inside West Ham, Southton has hit out at the claims saying no decision has been made on Moyes’ future and denying out of hand that the boss would have been sacked if he failed to win the European trophy.

“Barely a day passes without new reports and speculation emerging but the situation hasn’t moved an inch from last summer when the club backed the Scot to the hilt,” Southon reports.

‘No decision on Moyes future and he wouldn’t have been sacked had Hammers failed to win Europa Conference League’

The Daily Mail is very good at whipping up new and inaccurate angles on the scenario and that appears to have been very much the same again today with the Hammers speaking on the position exclusively to Claret and Hugh…

“According to our top source inside the club that is untrue and he claimed that it was surely well known that the board had backed him throughout the speculation upon him from fans. That indeed was the case even before the manager saw the squad win the Conference trophy.

“The win over Nottingham Forest of course helped the position as it stands now but our source said: “Nothing has been decided. Later in the season we’ll sit down with the manager and decide what works for him and the club. Its far too early for either of us to make a decision. The plan was NEVER to sack him at the end of last season.”

This reiterates the emphatic response Hammers News reported 10 days ago from a top source inside the club where it was stated talk of Moyes being sacked was ‘rubbish’ and nothing had been decided on his future.
