West Ham United are said to be lining up a move to sign Arsenal forward Reiss Nelson this summer.

Arsenal are apparently keen to sell Reiss Nelson to West Ham as soon as possible, before they embark on their US tour.

Hammers head coach Julen Lopetegui is firmly on the hunt for a new right-footed left winger, so it’s easy to see why Nelson might be a target.

The Gunners forward can actually play anywhere along the front-line, and that versatility will surely appeal to Lopetegui.

West Ham recently sold Said Benrahma to Lyon, and the Algerian needs to be replaced as a matter of urgency.

The Hammers have already been linked with multiple wingers this summer – Jota Silva and Baris Alper Yilmaz just to name a couple.

However, Nelson is a name that keeps cropping up. What does the player himself think about a potential move to the London Stadium though?

The Gunners attacker came through the Hale End academy a decade ago, and great things were expected of him when he was just 15.

However, Nelson has never hit the heights that were expected of him in north London.

Whether he will still be at the Emirates next season remains to be seen.

Arsenal forward Nelson wants to join West Ham this summer, according to a report from TEAMtalk.

The Hammers were actually linked with a move to sign Nelson last summer, when he was mooted to be part of a potential swap deal for Declan Rice.

That obviously didn’t happen in the end, and he remained at the Emirates for another season.

So could he finally leave the Gunners to join the Hammers? I have to say, I’m not overly enamoured by the idea of West Ham signing Reiss Nelson this summer.

Sure, he possesses impressive pace, but he doesn’t have much guile or creativity inside the final third. Eight goals and nine assists in 89 games for Arsenal tells its own story really doesn’t it.

The 24-year-old has a really concerning injury record as well.

Since the start of the 2019/20 season, Nelson has missed 333 days through injury (Transfermarkt).

The winger has hardly played over the past couple of years, and I just don’t think he’s the man we need to take us to the next level.

I feel like we could do so much better – give me Jota Silva or Baris Alper Yilmaz over the Arsenal man any day of the week.

That said, if Lopetegui does bring Reiss Nelson to West Ham this summer, it goes without saying that he’ll have my full support.
