Manuel Pellegrini has endured a torrid start to his West Ham United reign, but has been offered support by Karren Brady.
She says she has complete faith in the former Manchester City manager and now he has been offered another small boost.
This time it comes from the punters. Ladbrokes have revealed that Pellegrini is sixth on the list of the managers who have been backed to be the first Premier League manager to be sacked this season.
After a start to the season that has left the Hammers as the only team in the league without a point to their name, Pellegrini might have expected to be a more popular choice.
However, according to the punters, there are five men more likely to lose their jobs than the Chilean.
They are Manchester United’s Jose Mourinho, Newcastle’s Rafa Benitez, Leicester’s Claude Puel, Cardiff’s Neil Warnock and Southampton’s Mark Hughes.
The landscape looks better than Pellegrini might have expected it do during the international break.
However, with games against Everton, Chelsea and Manchester United between now and the next international break, the assignments do not get any easier.
The pressure will pile on every week; Pellegrini needs a win from somewhere. However, springing the odd surprise in those next three would lift so much weight off his shoulders and bring confidence back to the club.
