West Ham United manager Manuel Pellegrini is now the second favourite for the sack with Ladbrokes.
After four losses in four Premier League games, Pellegrini is now under pressure and he is the biggest mover in the sack race since the start of the season.
When the former Manchester City boss arrived at West Ham in the summer, his odds were 10/1 to be the first manager axed.
But West Ham have lost all four of their opening four games, with Adama Traore’s injury time winner for Wolves depriving the Hammers of their first point this season.
Second only to Mourinho
The disastrous start to the season has left Pellegrini’s position in jeopardy and he is now just 7/2 to be the first manager sacked in the top flight.
Only Jose Mourinho, who has won two and lost two with Manchester United, is ahead of Pellegrini in the sack race, with odds of 3/1.
Southampton’s Mark Hughes (6/1), Newcastle United’s Rafa Benitez (7/1) and Cardiff City’s Neil Warnock (8/1) are the next three most likely to be shown the exit door.
Alex Apati, of Ladbrokes, said: “Mourinho looks to have bought himself some time with a win over Burnley, while Pellegrini is fast approaching must-win territory for the Hammers.”
Can Pellegrini turn things around?
Pellegrini has the international break to mull over West Ham’s point-less start to the campaign, with tough games against Everton, Chelsea and Manchester United coming up later this month.
While West Ham will want to give Pellegrini time to turn things around, the club could very conceivably have no points after seven league matches.
If the Irons fail to pick up any points in these next three matches, it could push the Chilean closer to the sack.
