West Ham have now gone over a quarter of a season without a win under Nuno Espirito Santo and he has been called to a meeting with the board after a decision on his future.

If the Hammers are not being blown away by the opposition, such as lowly Wolves, then they are giving their fans false hope by taking the lead in games before throwing it away.

West Ham have now surrendered 12 points from winning positions since Nuno Espirito Santo arrived at the end of September.

They threw away another three when relegation rivals Nottingham Forest came from 1-0 down to beat the Irons 2-1 at the London Stadium on Tuesday night.

That made it 10 Premier League games without a win for West Ham under Nuno, all but sealing the club’s relegation fate in the hearts and minds of many.

That is more than a quarter of a season without a win.

Nuno summoned to West Ham board meeting after Forest defeat

Unless the Hammers now win every other game for the rest of the season, then survival is extremely unlikely.

It should be no surprise then that Nuno is under pressure to keep his job as West Ham boss.

Especially with claims emerging from a journalist that players dislike Nuno and want him out.

The Hammers board took a strong stance on the Nuno unrest revelations ahead of the game against Forest.

They also backed the manager by spending £47m on two new strikers, making it clear in official announcements that Pablo and Taty Castellanos were both Nuno’s picks.

West Ham threw away an early 1-0 lead over Forest to lose yet again, though, leaving them seven points adrift of safety and an 89 per cent probability of being relegated with 17 games to go.

Speculation has been rife that Nuno could be sacked, both leading up to and since the Forest defeat.

The likes of Michael Carrick, Kieran McKenna and even Harry Redknapp have been linked.

Although West Ham’s owners totally dismissed Redknapp as a potential replacement when speaking exclusively to Hammers News.

Well now a big call has been made by the hierarchy.

Nuno has been summoned to a West Ham board meeting after a decision on his future, claim sources.

Hammers board tell Nuno their decision on his future

That’s according to Sky Sports, who claim the Hammers have told top-level talks with Nuno where he was told that they are sticking with him – although it came with a big caveat.

The precise wording used by the Sky Sports sources is that the owners have decided not to sack Nuno ‘for now’.

A big factor in the decision was that the owners feel the performance in the defeat to Forest was a big improvement on the Wolves debacle.

The report states that discussions were expected between the owners and Nuno at the meeting on Wednesday.

After being told he was safe ‘for now’ discussions then centred mostly around further transfers in the January transfer window.

West Ham meeting focused on more transfers

Sky Sports sources have also claimed West Ham have turned their attentions back to their prime target for the next arrival, Adama Traore.

The winger is expected to be allowed to join the Hammers as soon as Fulham have got their key Nigerian trio back from AFCON.

The Super Eagles play Algeria in the quarter-finals on Saturday at 4pm.

So there is a possibility, should Nigeria lose in the quarter or the semi-final, that West Ham will have Traore in the squad for the trip to bitter rivals Spurs the following Saturday.

West Ham fans have been astonished the club and Nuno have not prioritised signing new centre-backs given West Ham are conceding an average of over two goals per game this season.

Toulouse’s England Under 21 star Charlie Cresswell is said to be a top target for the Hammers.

But a major Cresswell update for West Ham left fans fuming this week.
