Nuno speaks on Niclas Fullkrug ‘scan’ and shares Bowen and Paqueta update for West Ham

Nuno Espirito Santo admits West Ham United are still awaiting the results of Niclas Fullkrug’s scan but there are no other fresh injury concerns ahead of Monday’s Premier League clash with Brentford.

It was confirmed last week, by Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann, that Fullkrug would be unavailable for the Hammers once again after suffering a thigh injury.

As such, a striker still awaiting his first goal of 2025/26 will not have the chance to break that duck against London neighbours Brentford next time out.

Youngster George Earthy remains on the sidelines too with a hamstring complaint. But, on a more positive note, Nuno Espirito Santo confirmed during his Friday press conference that the likes of Jarrod Bowen, El Hadji Malick Diouf, Tomas Soucek, Konstantinos Mavropanos, Lucas Paqueta and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are fully fit and ready to go for West Ham United after returning unscathed from international duty.

Nuno Espirito Santo speaks out on West Ham United’s latest Niclas Fullkrug blow

“[Fullkrug] just had a scan. We are waiting for the results,” Nuno said. “Then, we can say exactly [how long] he is going to be out, and all these things.

“It depends on the scan, on each player’s own timing. Hopefully, [Fullkrug’s return will come] sooner.

“George is still out. The rest are OK. The players that came from the national teams are OK, so [that is] good.”

Bowen provided a first-ever England assist in the 5-0 thrashing of Latvia. Malick Diouf sealed World Cup qualification with Senegal, meanwhile, and Mateus Fernandes scored as Portugal’s Under-21s obliterated Gibraltar with a record-equalling 11-0 win.

“The main priority is that they return healthy,” Nuno adds. “Some of them are happy, some of them not so happy because it didn’t go well! But now they are back at the club.

“It is always a moment of pride for a club to have so many international players playing so well.”
