Newcastle United beat Leicester City 4-2 last night. The shock result proved that nerves will play a huge role in the race for there top four. And the West Ham players just need to maintain their focus and composure with a place in next season’s Champions League well within their grasp.

The Hammers now sit just five points adrift of the Foxes with a game in hand!

With some of the games that Brendan Rodgers’ men have left, it may well not be long before Champions League qualification is in our hands.

David Moyes’s men must win all of their games of course. Or win three and draw one at the very worst.

Newcastle beat Leicester in shock result that should serve as warning for West Ham

Nobody would have predicted that the Magpies would have left the King Power Stadium with all three points last night.

That’s what happened, however.

And it proved one very important thing. Nerves will play a key role in the run-in this season.

Last night’s result will be a great reminder for the Hammers players. No game is easy in the Premier League.

On paper we have a fairly friendly run-in. Everton at home, Brighton and West Brom away and Southampton at home.

Nothing less than 100 per cent commitment and passion will do, however.

There is absolutely no room for complacency. The West Ham players would have known this anyway.

Newcastle beating Leicester would have hammered it home for them, however.

In what has been the craziest of seasons, West Ham can achieve the impossible with a top four finish.

Four wins will almost certainly get the job done. Now’s the time for the Hammers players to stand up and be counted. Composure and focus will be key.

Leicester proved last night that you cannot go into any game at 80 or 90 per cent and expect to win.

And that is a truly great reminder for the West Ham squad.
