West Ham have made six new signings and it’s soon to be seven with Jean-Clair Todibo but what shirt numbers will they wear.

Guido Rodriguez became West Ham’s sixth signing of the summer this week.

He is soon to be followed by a seventh with French defender Jean-Clair Todibo having a West Ham medical.

Brazilian teen sensation Luis Guilherme came in for around £20m followed by back-up goalkeeper Wes Foderingham on a free.

Max Kilman was Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten’s first big guaranteed starter signing in a £40m deal from Wolves.

New West Ham stars choose shirt numbers

The Hammers signed the Championship’s best player in the shape of Crysencio Summerville for £26m at the weekend in signing number four.

Then Germany striker Niclas Fullkrug arrived from Dortmund in a £23.5m move – not the £27-30m being reported elsewhere.

Less than 24 hours later Argentina World Cup winner Rodriguez signed as a free agent.

Now they are set to be joined by signing number seven – and arguably the best – Todibo.

The 24-year-old is set to sign on loan with an obligation to buy.

Now the new West Ham stars have chosen their shirt numbers and it is clear which one is waiting for Todibo.

Clear which number is waiting for Todibo at West Ham

Guilherme will be number 17 while Foderingham has taken the 21 shirt.

Kilman will don the 26 shirt while Summerville is West Ham’s new number seven.

Striker Fullkrug has taken the number 11 and Rodriguez will wear number 24 for the Hammers.

James Ward-Prowse has switched to the number eight while Maxwel Cornet is 22 and Andy Irving number 29, West Ham have confirmed.

That means only a handful of numbers left for Todibo to choose.

The former Barcelona man wears the number six at Nice.

But West Ham officially retired the number six shirt made famous by club legend Bobby Moore back in 2008.

The Hammers retired the famous six shirt in honour of Moore, one of football’s most legendary players.

The former Irons and England captain led the national team to their only ever major trophy with victory in the 1966 World Cup.

Todibo will have to change his number

After his passing away in 1993, West Ham decided to retire the number six shirt as a tribute to his legacy and contribution to the club and English football.

Unless the club decide to reverse that decision then the number six will not be available to Moore’s fellow central defender Todibo.

With Kurt Zouma set to depart the number four is set to be available very soon.

It seems clear Todibo will want to take his compatriot’s number as the only other traditional starter’s number available is the two shirt.

But that is usually reserved for right-backs.

The number 27 could be available soon if Nayef Aguerd follows Zouma out of the West Ham exit as planned.

Todibo may elect to take a less traditional number with the likes of 12 and 13 available.

So the soon to be vacated number four looks most likely for West Ham signing number seven.

West Ham have sent a message to fans looking to get shirts personalised, though.

“Supporters should bear in mind that, until the official squad list for the 2024/25 season is announced on official club channels, men’s first-team squad numbers remain subject to change,” the Hammers said in an official statement.

“The club does not advise squad personalisation on shirts while the transfer window is still open. Items with custom printing cannot be exchanged or refunded unless the product is faulty.

“Furthermore, if a player changes his number at any time we cannot offer a refund or an exchange on this shirt (this does not affect your statutory rights).”
