There’s more West Ham mystery today as a board insider claims the end of season awards have been ‘cancelled’.

After four-and-a-half years of stability and relative tranquillity, West Ham have been making headlines in the last couple of weeks.

Every spit and cough of the club’s search for a potential replacement for David Moyes is being played out in the press and on social media.

The Hammers have been linked with 15 managers, reportedly holding talks with at least two of them.

Yet the “company line” from West Ham’s hierarchy remains that no decision will be made on Moyes until the end of the season.

That has prompted criticism from many West Ham fans who feel the decision should be made and announced so that they can give the manager a fitting send-off at home against Luton next weekend.

Awkward situation unfolds at West Ham

Yesterday it was claimed technical director Tim Steidten has been banned from the first team dressing room at Rush Green and the London Stadium.

The German recently described his ‘euphoria’ at having complete control at West Ham. He also committed his future to the club, saying he sees it as a five-year project.

West Ham responded to Hammers News about the Steidten ban claims. But it only served to heighten the mystery around the situation.

It all points to a parting of the ways with Moyes in the coming weeks.

So could that also explain why the club has shelved it’s annual awards ceremony too?

Because there’s more West Ham mystery as a board insider claims the end of season awards have been ‘cancelled’.

More mystery as insider claims awards ‘cancelled’

Sean Whetstone counts majority owner David Sullivan and vice-chair Karren Brady among his contacts.

And he claims the popular West Ham dinner – which raises money for the Academy – appears to have been ‘cancelled yet again’.

“It appears the West Ham Players Award ceremony dinner has been cancelled yet again by the club,” Whetstone said.

“It has often been held at the Grosvenor Hotel on London’s upmarket Park Lane costing £3,720 per standard table. Usually held in May, there has been no announcements or promotions of the event which usually helps fund the West Ham Academy.

“Awards usually include top goal scorer of the season, signing of the season, team performance of the season, save of the season, goal of the season, young Hammer of the season, Dylan Tombides award, Players’ Player of the Season, Individual performance of the season, Players’ project award, Women’s Hammer of the Year and of course the climax with the Hammer of the year being crowned.”

Another hint Moyes is on his way?

Is this the latest hint Moyes is on his way? After all how could the club hold an awards presentation if he was on his way. And if Moyes was staying then surely the awards would be going ahead?

Or perhaps there’s another reason it has been shelved.

Last year West Ham held a Road to Victory Celebration Dinner at the InterContinental London O2 on August 3.

It has been reported that West Ham’s first team squad and staff, including Moyes, went out for a team bonding meal last night.

There have been suggestions that meal could be a farewell to the manager.

Some have questioned the timing of the night out with West Ham playing Chelsea this Sunday.

But many feel that timing in itself suggests Moyes looks very much to be on his way after the season finale at Man City.
