West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus has endured a funny old last few weeks.

It has been difficult at times for Mohammed Kudus at West Ham this season, especially after his reported fall-out with Julen Lopetegui at half-time during our 1-1 draw with Brentford.

However, the West Ham owners have apparently already contacted Kudus’s representatives in order to explain to them that everything is fine between the player and manager.

Signed from Ajax for £38 million in the summer of 2023, Kudus’s fine form for us has already attracted the attention of some of the world’s biggest clubs including the likes of Barcelona.

The Ghanaian has bagged 15 goals and seven assists in 54 games in all competitions for the Hammers.

The thing is, he’s so talented that I actually expect a better return that that.

And now, Kudus could have a new role at the London Stadium, after we got to see a different side of him.

Something we’re lacking at the London Stadium right now is real leaders.

In my personal opinion, Jarrod Bowen should never have been named as the new club captain – he’s a great player but definitely not a leader.

Lopetegui desperately needs some of his players to step up and act as real leaders on the pitch.

Now Kudus has entered the fray as someone who could be one of those guiding figures for the club.

He took to his official Instagram account after Ghana’s defeat to Sudan, and took full responsibility as the captain of his nation.

That is great to see as far as I’m concerned.

For someone who’s just 24 to take on such responsibility under the microscope of the public eye really is very impressive.

West Ham need Mohammed Kudus to return to his very best form as soon as possible. Whether we will see him firing on all cylinders during our clash with Tottenham tomorrow remains to be seen.

One thing that is certain right now is that it’s looking like Kudus’s Ghana will miss out on AFCON for the first time since 2004 – an outcome that would actually be great news for the Hammers.

The 24-year-old solely has West Ham to focus on now, and after seeing his apology on Instagram, I think now’s the time for him to really step up and become a proper leader in our dressing room, and on the pitch.
