The West Ham United goalkeeper has previously won the award while on loan at Concord Rangers and Hornchurch. That is a remarkable achievement, no matter the level.

It was another successful season for the West Ham academy player, who now believes life in the Football League is the next natural step for his progression.

Braintree’s official X account predicted a “high future for the lad” after it was announced that the 21-year-old had won the award.

After thanking everyone at the club, the goalkeeper admitted that he is ready to step things up and move into the Football League next season.

Have we left anyone out of our West Ham ACADEMY star XI?

Who do YOU think is the cream of the current youth team crop?

In quotes sourced by West Ham’s official website: “Going up a division across each of my three loans has taken my experience to another level, building a great foundation for myself. Now, having over 130 men’s games under my belt, I am ready to go into the Football League and continue to succeed.

“I am very excited for what the summer has in store for me. I want to continue learning on and off the pitch and improve my different attributes that will help me with my performances in games.”

It will be fascinating to see what comes next for him. While Terry wants to play for West Ham in the Premier League, that still feels a while off.

Moving to a Football League club does feel like the best next step for a goalkeeper clearly on the rise.

Mason Terry stats at Braintree

Terry was an individual success at Braintree, despite their relegation from the National League.

In total, 41 appearances have yielded 16 Man of the Match Awards, 12 clean sheets, one goal and one assist.

Clearly, the season as a whole ended in disappointment for the club. Still, Terry certainly did enough to suggest he’s at least at National League level, if not higher.

A loan into the Football League does feel like the best next step for him. He’s met every challenge so far, so there’s little to suggest that he cannot do so again.
