A hugely surprising claim has just now surfaced regarding West Ham United midfielder Edson Alvarez.
Edson Alvarez is currently injured and hasn’t been involved during West Ham‘s pre-season campaign, after the Hammers midfielder left he pitch in tears when he picked up a hamstring strain when playing for Mexico in June.
Since then, Julen Lopetegui has admitted that his injury was ‘bad news’ for the Hammers, and it has already been clearly evident just how much we miss him.
Recovery times for hamstring injuries can vary from three weeks to anything like four months, depending on the severity of the tear.
So it remains to be seen just how much action the 26-year-old is forced to miss for the Hammers.
Alvarez moved to the London Stadium from Dutch giants Ajax in the summer of 2023 for around £32 million (Goal).
Edson Alvarez indispensable for West Ham
He has been a brilliant player for us, aside from the odd lack of discipline, and we need him back playing as soon as possible.
However, now a huge claim has been made about the Mexico international, and it should really concern the Hammers fans.

Fabrizio Romano took to his official X account this morning to provide an update on the tough-tackling midfielder.
The well-known Italian football journalist offered an injury update on Alvarez, but it was something else he said that really caught my eye.
The claim from Romano really is not ideal whatsoever.
“Edson Alvarez, expected to be back in the squad for West Ham against Crystal Palace if all goes to plan. There are still clubs interested in Alvarez for final days of transfer window but no formal bids so far.“
Losing Alvarez would be a disaster
Edson Alvarez is just so important to how West Ham play, and we cannot afford to lose him.
The problem is, if a club comes in with an offer north of £50 million for the former Ajax man, will the board look at that as good business?
I just feel like allowing him to leave this late in the window would be a really big mistake.
Who are we going to sign to replace him? It will take a serious amount of money to bring in someone who can replicate what Edson Alvarez brings to this West Ham team.
I would suggest that he’s priceless to the Hammers, and there is no way that we should even be considering letting him go this summer.
I do believe he will remain at the London Stadium beyond the end of the current window.
