Major West Ham boost and big Aston Villa blow as 27yo wants to play under Julen Lopetegui

Julen Lopetegui could have a big say in whether one top-class striker will be playing for West Ham United or Aston Villa next season.

Julen Lopetegui clearly has a very big reputation in the game, and that could aid West Ham this summer, whilst hurting Aston Villa in the process.

The Hammers boss has a lot of work to do at the London Stadium this summer, and one of his chief priorities is to sign a top-class centre-forward.

Michail Antonio has been a great servant for West Ham over the past nine years, but Lopetegui cannot afford to let the summer transfer window pass by without bringing in a big upgrade on the Jamaica international.

Unai Emery is in the same boat at Villa Park, and he desperately needs to sign a goalscorer to provide proper competition and cover for Ollie Watkins.

West Ham and Aston Villa apparently could be set for a big transfer battle in the summer window.

Both Premier League clubs are thought to be after the same man, but the Hammers hold a big advantage it seems…

West Ham boost as 27yo wants to play under Julen Lopetegui

The Hammers could well be in a strong position to pick up a really top-class striker this summer.

And the fact we’re in pole position for the signing is apparently all down to our new manager.

Youssef En-Nesyri is a player who’s on the radar of the Hammers, as well as Aston Villa.

Spanish publication AS claims that En-Nesyri is keen to link up with Lopetegui at West Ham this summer.

The Morocco international is a striker who’d be absolutely perfect for the current setup at West Ham, so signing him would be a major boost for us, and our hopes of reaching the next level.

En-Nesyri has bagged 73 goals in 194 appearances for Sevilla (Transfermarkt) – better than a goal every three games.

He has an impressive 113 goals for club and country to his name – a very decent return considering that he’s only 27.

If West Ham manage to beat Villa to the signing of En-Nesyri this summer, we will owe a lot of gratitude to Julen Lopetegui.

The Morocco international is clearly a big fan of working under Lopetegui, and hopefully the Sevilla man will reunite with the Spaniard when the summer transfer window officially opens.
