Luis Guilherme could cause a major problem between Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten

West Ham United chief Julen Lopetegui hasn’t given many minutes to Tim Stediten signing Luis Guilherme just yet.

Tim Steidten oversaw the summer spending spree at West Ham, after Julen Lopetegui told the German the type of players he wanted.

Steidten was given the keys to the kingdom by the board back in the summer, when it comes to player recruitment.

And Luis Guilherme was the first signing the Hammers director of football brought to the London Stadium.

It has already been suggested that some of the West Ham hierarchy do not believe that Guilherme is of the required standard, for now at least.

And now a new claim has come to light regarding the effect that the Brazilian has had on the relationship between Julen and Tim…

The 18-year-old Brazilian is a special talent, and he has huge potential.

However, he’s nowhere near the levels required to play Premier League football regularly.

And the mere fact that Steidten chose to bring him to the London Stadium rather than getting a deal for a top-class striker like Jhon Duran over the line is hugely frustrating.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, the signing of Luis Guilherme raised some eyebrows internally at West Ham.

A worrying dynamic has apparently been created between Lopetegui and Steidten, with the Spaniard of the belief that the Brazilian is a long way off from being able to make a regular contribution at senior level.

I actually understand Lopetegui’s frustrations.

The 58-year-old is fighting for his job at the London Stadium right now, and he has a £25 million player who’s nowhere near ready to help him.

Tim Steidten is starting to receive some criticism now, and rightly so, having avoided any kind of blame for far too long.

Sure, Julen Lopetegui has got a lot of things wrong, but had Tim Steidten prioritised a move for Jhon Duran rather than Luis Guilherme, West Ham would be in totally different situation right now.

I don’t think there’s any doubt about that whatsoever.
