West Ham were boosted ahead of the game with news that Newcastle’s two key players Guimaraes and Aleksander Isak were out of the clash.
That denied West Ham’s Brazil star Paqueta a midfield tussle with his best friend and former Lyon teammate Guimaraes.
The duo had a bet on the match with the loser buying dinner.
But after a disastrous start for West Ham with bogeyman Callum Wilson making it 1-0 early on, Paqueta ensured it ended honours even.

Taking to Instagram and his Instagram stories, Paqueta posted a picture of him celebrating in front of the Newcastle fans while tagging in Guimaraes and saying: “I love you” to his mate.
In another post showing the West Ham star wheeling away in celebration, Paqueta said: “Very important point today, happy for the team’s delivery and for the goal! #followtogether,” alongside heart, praying and Hammers emojis.
A host of stars including West Ham skipper Declan Rice and Alphonse Areola reacted to the post.
But perhaps none more famous than another of Paqueta’s close friends, Real Madrid superstar VInicius Jr.
The Brazil and Real winger simply responded with love heart and love to see it emojis.
Paqueta’s wife also reacted, saying: “My pride! I’m in love with this photo!!”
Let’s hope this is the start of a real run of form from Paqueta for the rest of the season because West Ham need him in this kind of mood and to be making the difference.
