Leeds and West Ham fans finally unite as message about Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips emulating greats Bobby Moore and Jack Charlton ends feud

Fans of West Ham United and Leeds United are usually at each other’s throats over their midfield aces Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips.

Even during this Euros, the rivalry between West Ham and Leeds supporters intensified.

Rice and Phillips proved to be two of the best players in their positions for West Ham and Leeds last season.

West Ham fans can see clearly that their brilliant midfield star Rice has been playing with the handbrake on for England.

West Ham and Leeds fans usually at each other’s throats over Rice and Phillips debate

And it is all because of the tactics being employed by Gareth Southgate to accommodate Leeds midfielder Phillips.

West Ham and Leeds heroes Rice and Phillips have been widely praised during England’s run to the Euro 2020 semi-finals.

Both players – but particularly Rice – were brilliant again in the 4-0 win over Ukraine.

And now fans of West Ham and Leeds finally seem to have buried the hatchet in mutual appreciation.

Supporters bury hatchet as Leeds fan shares post on duo emulating greats Bobby Moore and Jack Charlton

It comes after a Leeds fan posted a brilliant message on Twitter highlighting how England’s 1966 World Cup success was built on the foundation of a partnership between Hammers and Elland Road greats Bobby Moore and Jack Charlton.

The post has a picture of the pair chatting during their England days in 1966 alongside a picture of Rice and Phillips together now.

“55 years later a new partnership between Leeds and West Ham academy products is powering England,” the post says alongside the poignant images.

The post received a lot of love from fans of both West Ham and Leeds.

Rivalries put to one side as duo help England march to semis

And many called for both sets of supporters to put rivalries to one side and appreciate the talents of their star men.

Some did question whether the duo should be compared to two greats such as Moore and Charlton.

But in general there was a new found respect between West Ham and Leeds as a result.

In other West Ham news, The Sun has been forced to apologise to the Hammers over a false story it ran about contract offers made to Rice.

And West Ham star gives Moyes a two-word response when asked about missing the England midfield ace.
