Kurt Zouma and Issa Diop could be the future in central defence for West Ham United.
The 26-year-old joined the Hammers from Chelsea in the summer for around £29.8 million (Sky Sports).
Zouma already looks the part. And his arrival at the London Stadium seems to have helped Diop return to somewhere near his best form.
The West Ham duo are both hugely talented centre-backs and could very well go on to form a formidable partnership at the heart of David Moyes’s backline.
Kurt Zouma and Issa Diop an unbelievable partnership in the making
Diop, 24, was very good against Dinamo Zagreb and Rapid Vienna in the Europa League and was truly magnificent against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup.
The former Toulouse man seems to be back to his best.
Meanwhile, Zouma hasn’t put a foot wrong since joining West Ham.
The fact that both defenders speak French is a huge factor in them potentially forming a telepathic understanding with one another as well.
Zouma and Diop are both dominant in the air and are very quick along the ground.
At 26 and 24, they both have a good seven or eight years left ahead of them playing together.
That really is very good news for West Ham.
Angelo Ogbonna is a top-class defender of course and he still has a big part to play for the Hammers.
The 33-year-old Italian can’t keep playing at the highest level for more than another one or two years, however.
It’s time for Zouma and Diop to help usher in a new era of success at West Ham.
Diop at his very best:
These are exciting times to be a Hammers fan. And Zouma partnering the reinvigorated Diop at centre-back is yet another thrilling prospect.
