There will be big change at West Ham United this summer, with new manager Julen Lopetegui now at the helm.

Julen Lopetegui is clearly well aware of the size of the task that lies ahead of him in charge of West Ham, and we recently told you how he is planning to make at least six new signings this summer.

However, with such a big rebuild lying in wait at the London Stadium, the 57-year-old Hammers boss cannot afford to wait around.

Big things are expected of Lopetegui at West Ham, with David Sullivan and Tim Steidten having set him the challenge of guiding the East London outfit to a top six finish.

That will obviously be easier said than done, but with the right recruitment, Lopetegui will have every chance of getting us back into Europe.

And the latest report suggests that he is keen to get the majority of his summer business wrapped up very early indeed…

Julen Lopetegui sets deadline for four new West Ham signings

The Hammers boss is not wasting any time when it comes to bringing in some new faces this summer.

Or at least that’s the plan anyway.

According to the Times, Lopetegui wants four new signings sorted about before the start of pre-season.

And one of them could well be Wolves centre-back Max Kilman.

West Ham’s first pre-season game is against Dagenham and Redbridge on July 20th, so we can all expect a flurry of new arrivals over the course of the next six weeks.

And hopefully Kilman will be the first of the new signings.

The centre-back has been firmly on the Hammers’ radar for quite some time now, and was most recently linked with a move to the London Stadium just a couple of weeks ago.

Claret and Hugh have claimed that Wolves could demand around £40 million for Kilman, 27, in the summer.

Lopetegui obviously knows the centre-back very well indeed, having managed him during his spell at Molineux.

In 37 Premier League appearances for Wolves this season, the 27-year-old averaged 1.3 tackles, one interception, 4.8 clearances and 2.6 successful aerial duels.

He made 60.3 passes per game and recorded a completion rate of 86% (Who Scored).

£40 million is a serious amount of cash for West Ham to splash out on one player this summer, especially when considering the fact that Julen Lopetegui has a transfer budget of around £90 million, not including player sales.

However, Kilman would be such a vitally important signing for the Hammers, and if he’s available for the kind of money suggested, I think we should go all out for him.
