West Ham United academy star Josh Ajala is hoping for a first team call from Nuno Espirito Santo after winning the Player of the Month Award in Premier League 2.
Striker Ajala is one of West Ham’s most exciting young players and has recently signed a new long-term contract at the club after previously being linked with a move away.
February was a strong month for Ajala. The 19-year-old scored two goals and registered three assists in four Premier League 2 games and duly won the award.

Now, the 19-year-old is hoping that he’ll be able to translate such form into a first-team setting.
Speaking to West Ham United’s official website, the teenager said: “I feel like I’ve been in good form for a lot of the time, scoring goals for both the Under-18s and Under-21s over the last couple of seasons.
“I want to keep scoring goals for the youth teams and hopefully that will give me the chance to do so for the first team.”

Ajala has put West Ham United academy on the brink of winning a trophy
Though the success of the West Ham academy this season is clearly a team effort, the striker played a huge role in getting the U21s to a final.
Indeed, Ajala scored twice as West Ham beat Tamworth to reach the National League Cup final.
They will play non-league side Boreham Wood away on Tuesday night as they look to lift the trophy.
Ajala will no doubt be key to whatever happens in the final.
The problem that Ajala currently has at West Ham
Nuno certainly hasn’t been afraid to trust the academy this season, with the likes of Ezra Mayers and Mohamadou Kante featuring at times.
Still, West Ham currently have three good strikers at the club. It’s been a problem position for the club over the years, but Callum Wilson, Pablo Felipe and Taty Castellanos form a strong unit.
Clearly, that doesn’t mean that Ajala won’t get opportunities going forward, just that they look limited in the short term at least.
By handing him a new deal, the club are clearly excited by the former Chelsea youngster. It will be fascinating to see if or when he’s brought into the fold.
