Hammers boss David Moyes has built a truly brilliant squad of players at the London Stadium since returning to the club in December 2019.

It could be argued that this is actually the best group of players we have had since the late 90’s when we finished in fifth spot in the Premier League table.

Moyes guided West Ham to a sixth placed finish in the table last season and we subsequently qualified for the Europa League

But how far can West Ham go in Europe?

Joe Cole backs West Ham to enjoy success in the Europa League

The Hammers kick off their European campaign on Thursday night away to Dinamo Zagreb.

And former West Ham ace Joe Cole backed David Moyes’s men to enjoy a stellar campaign on the continent:

“Villarreal won the Europa League last season but Villarreal are not better than West Ham. Michail Antonio walks into their team, so does Declan Rice, Tomas Soucek, Pablo Fornals, Angelo Ogbonna and Kurt Zouma. If Villarreal can win the Europa League, then so too can West Ham.”

Cole is spot on.

We do have some exceptional players amongst our ranks. Cole didn’t even mentioned the likes of Said Benrahma, Vladimir Coufal, Nikola Vlasic and Jarrod Bowen!

As long as the players aren’t overcome by the importance of the games, West Ham could shock a few people this season.
