West Ham United captain Jarrod Bowen finally faced the media, a day after our 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest.
But what Jarrod Bowen came out with actually shocked me to my core.
The West Ham winger has been in poor form himself this season, and his radio silence immediately after the defeat to Nottingham Forest was extremely disappointing if you ask me.
We need much more from our captain, but it’s not all about him. Every single West Ham player needs to stand up and be counted now.
Julen Lopetegui seems lost right now, without any clear plan, but his players are letting him down in all fairness.
The Hammers were awful up at the City Ground on Saturday, but Bowen clearly didn’t agree.
Jarrod Bowen makes statement after West Ham’s 3-0 defeat
The Hammers skipper finally faced up to reporters following our shocking 3-0 defeat to Forest on Saturday.
I was honestly shocked to hear his take from the first-half…

Bowen spoke to reporters on Sunday, and responded when asked what he thought of his teammates’ defending, as quoted by WHUFC.com.
And I could quite believe what I heard…
Bowen said, “They obviously scored the goal, which we’re disappointed with, as it was quite an easy goal to concede.“
“Like I said, defensively, we’ve done well in the first half. Obviously, we conceded a goal, but we still limited them.”
What a bizarre take from Bowen.
I mean the fact that we conceded one of the softest goals you will ever see, with three centre-backs by the way, was enough to instantly make our defensive performance horrendous, in spite of what else the players might have done.
I have to say as well, I really don’t think we defended well at all as a team, during either half. We were so easy to get at every single time Forest had the ball.
And here’s what worries me the most – every time teams attack against us, they seem to get a shot away on our goal.
Forest had 19 shots, six on target, and scored three goals – what a miserable afternoon up in the East Midlands it was for us.
And Jarrod Bowen’s bizarre comments on West Ham’s defending after the game have just angered me more if I’m honest.
