Jamie Carragher suggested that West Ham are in a better position than Liverpool to finish inside the top four right now, when speaking to Sky Sports.

The Hammers have been superb this season.

David Moyes deserves huge credit for the job that he has done since returning to the London Stadium.

West Ham are currently sitting in sixth spot in the Premier League table, two points clear of Liverpool with a game in hand over the Merseyside giants.

The Reds have been very poor this season. After romping to the Premier League title last term, Jurgen Klopp’s men have surrendered their crown with barely a whimper.

Liverpool have experienced horrendous injury problems. But they quite simply should have done better in the some of the games they’ve lost this season. Especially at Anfield.

Jamie Carragher makes bold West Ham claim

If the Hammers beat Leeds on Monday night, they will cement their place inside the top five.

And Jamie Carragher told Sky Sports how he believes West Ham are better placed than Liverpool to finish inside the top four this season:

“I think it’ll be difficult for Liverpool. I think Chelsea look really impressive, when you look at the squad of Chelsea. I think they have a top squad and I think they’ll be difficult to stop. Whether Leicester come back to the pack [I’m not sure] but you look at teams like West Ham and Everton, and they’re in much better form than Liverpool right now. Liverpool win the odd game now and again and you think they’re back, but it’s just not happening.”

That is a very bold claim from Carragher considering how much quality and experience Jurgen Klopp has at his disposal at Anfield.

West Ham have some incredibly tough games on the horizon.

If we can take six or seven points from our next three games against Leeds, Manchester United and Arsenal, however, we have every chance of really pushing for the top four this season.

It is still very much up for grabs.

Hopefully the West Ham players are ready to embrace the challenge.
