James Corden appeared on talkSPORT to discuss all things West Ham as the end of the 2025/26 campaign approaches.

The celebrity actor and comedian has been keeping a close eye on the Hammers throughout this frustrating season.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side find themselves two points below Tottenham with two games remaining in the relegation battle.

Corden has now pinpointed a big mistake Nuno made when he first joined West Ham that contributed to this predicament.

He also named the manager he would like to replace Nuno in the dugout if the Irons are relegated to the Championship.

Oh wow 👀 How has Tottenham’s draw with Leeds made YOU feel about the relegation battle?!

This weirdly feels like a boost?

James Corden names Nuno mistake he fears could relegate West Ham

Corden cannot understand Nuno’s decision to play both full-backs in unnatural positions early in his tenure.

He played left-footed Ollie Scarles at right-back and right-footed Kyle Walker-Peters in what proved to be a failed experiment.

Corden insists it was a “massive issue” that gave West Ham even more work to do in the second half of the season.

“Maybe we wouldn’t be in this position, had when you come in, you played a right-back at right-back and a left-back at left-back. That is a massive issue,” he said.

“I think Nuno is brilliant. I hope he stays. I doubt he will, but I’d love it. If he doesn’t, it should be Scott Parker, no question.

“Why he came in and played a right-back at left-back and a left-back at right-back, I will never be able to get my head around.”

Even though the Hammers have been on a decent run in 2026, it might be too little too late to avoid relegation.

If they are relegated next weekend, Nuno is not expected to stay at the London Stadium for the Championship campaign.

Corden has already made his feelings clear on replacing the Portuguese boss with ex-West Ham midfielder Scott Parker.

Parker is a free agent, having departed Burnley last month, and has three promotions on his resume.
