The Hammers have enjoyed a fabulous Premier League campaign thus far.

David Moyes has worked wonders since taking over at the London Stadium for the second time in December 2019.

West Ham are currently flying high in fifth spot in the Premier League table.

We are sitting two points adrift of fourth placed Chelsea, one clear of Tottenham and three ahead of Liverpool and Everton.

Ian Wright makes West Ham prediction

The Hammers still have to play Everton and Chelsea at home this season. Moyes’s men will have to put last Sunday’s disappointing draw with Arsenal behind them quickly, however, if they are to have any chance of finishing inside the top four.

Ian Wright suggested that West Ham won’t have enough to earn Champions League football this season, when speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, which was broadcast on Optus Sport:

“West Ham, what they did the other day against Arsenal, they have to win that game. The fact is Liverpool and the player’s that they’ve got – what we saw with West Ham, we don’t know what is going to happen with Leicester – you can’t write Liverpool off with the amount of quality they have got. I think that it goes down to Liverpool. West Ham’s performance the other day, I don’t think they’re going to make it. And this is why I worry for West Ham and Everton. Can they go into this stretch that teams are used to doing? I’m not sure if they can do that.”

Wright has a point. The pundit does seem to be writing West Ham off too soon, however.

Out of our final nine games, only three of our opponents are currently inside the top half of the league table.

It’s Wolves away up next followed by Leicester at home for the Hammers. We need to be taking a bare minimum of four points from those games if we are too qualify for the Champions League this season.

Much will depend on how quickly the West Ham players can bounce back from their disappointing draw with Arsenal last week.

We are certainly capable. Let’s just hope that we go on to prove Ian Wright wrong this season.
