A huge twist could be on the cards in the relegation battle as the Premier League sends a major message to West Ham and their rivals about Everton.

West Ham and Everton are two of nine clubs involved in the tightest Premier League relegation battle in history right now.

Victory for West Ham in a survival six-pointer will lift the Hammers above the Toffees and into 14th.

Then the relegation battle focus shifts to Monday night when Everton welcome West Ham’s bitter rivals Spurs to Goodison Park.

It is clear that this season’s survival fight will be decided by small margins. And it promises to be a rollercoaster ride for those involved.

The relegation battle is set against the backdrop of Everton recently being referred to an independent commission for an alleged breach of the Premier League’s FFP rules (The Guardian).

Now a huge twist on cards as Premier League send major message to West Ham and rivals about Everton.

According to the likes of The Daily Mail, Premier League chiefs have sent a direct communication to West Ham and the rest of the clubs in the top fight informing them they could punish Everton this season.

And that could see the Toffees docked points, which would clearly give West Ham and the other relegation rivals a monumental boost in the bid to stay up.

The report claims the Premier League received letters from Everton’s rivals demanding answers with the Blues set to post losses of aounrd £400m since 2020.

Huge twist on cards as Premier League send major message to West Ham and rivals about Everton

“Everton are at risk of a damaging points deduction this season as the Premier League have told clubs they are confident of completing their investigation before the end of this campaign…” The Mail reports.

“Sportsmail has learned six top-flight rivals have written to the league demanding answers following Everton’s charge last week over breaching spending rules…

“They also warned that a failure to hear the case this season so could materially affect two successive relegation battles, leaving the Premier League open to multiple legal claims from up to six clubs…

“The Premier League are understood to have expressed confidence that the matter could be concluded before the season finishes on 28 May.”

Should Everton be docked points they would face a mountain to climb to stay up.

West Ham already have two games in hand on Everton, who are just one point above the bottom three as things stand.
