Michail Antonio has now completed his first season since leaving West Ham on a free transfer last summer.

Antonio was involved in a serious car accident in December 2024 and suffered several leg injuries.

The Hammers released him six months later, but it took until March this year for the striker to find a new club.

Antonio joined Al-Sailiya SC in the Qatar Stars League despite interest from Charlton Athletic in the Championship.

Michail Antonio’s debut season at Al-Sailiya SC in review

Al-Sailiya SC completed the signing of Antonio in March, with six games remaining in the Qatar Stars League season.

The 35-year-old then made his debut in a 4-0 defeat against Al-Duhail SC on 12 March, playing 73 minutes.

He also started Al-Sailiya’s next game against Al-Shahania SC, a 3-2 victory, but those were his only two starts.

Antonio played a total of 18 minutes in the remaining four league games, having been left out of the squad twice.

He did not contribute a goal or an assist in any of his four appearances, while he picked up one yellow card.

Antonio can be excused for his rustiness after going more than 12 months without playing in a professional game.

However, the ex-Hammers star would have expected to make a larger impact against easier competition than he is used to.

Antonio only joined on a short-term deal, and it remains to be seen whether he will stay beyond this year.
