How many more warnings does David Moyes need with absolutely shocking West Ham United defender Thilo Kehrer?

The 26-year-old defender joined the Hammers from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer for around £10 million The Sun.

At the time, it seemed like a great deal. However, Kehrer quickly showed why he was shipped out of the French club.

He actually played well on the whole during the first couple of games for the Hammers but even then, he made a couple of really rash tackles, including giving a penalty away against Brighton.

In my opinion, he shouldn’t be anywhere near this West Ham team. He is an absolute liability, yet Moyes keeps starting him, or at the very least including him in his match-day squads.

Surely Kehrer’s awful performance against Newcastle yesterday was the final straw…

The 26-year-old actually went off at half-time yesterday with a knock. Let’s not get it twisted though – he probably would have been hooked has he not been injured!

What an absolutely shambolic performance it was from the German. He was caught on his toes yet again inside the first few minutes when Callum Wilson was played through to put Newcastle 1-0 up.

How many times will Moyes start Kehrer again? How many more times will the German be allowed to make mistakes?

It has reached a point now whereby whenever he plays, he almost knows that he is going to commit a big error. The German’s confidence is on the floor, and he needs to be taken out of the team as a matter of urgency in my opinion, injury or no injury.

If Moyes chooses to persist with the ex-PSG man, he will risk undoing all the good work being done by the brilliant Nayef Aguerd at the back.

In my opinion, yesterday was Moyes’s last warning. Thilo Kehrer cannot play in defence for West Ham ever again.

Either Moyes should look to sell him in the summer transfer window or play him as a defensive midfielder – a position that he has been utilised in before for Paris Saint-Germain and Schalke.

I personally think that West Ham should cut our losses on Thilo Kehrer. The 26-year-old is error-prone in the extreme, and it’s clear to see why PSG were so keen to get rid of him.

Whether David Moyes will give Kehrer any more chances remains to be seen though.
