How long Julen Lopetegui could be given to get things right at West Ham

Julen Lopetegui is really feeling the heat in his role as West Ham United head coach right now.

West Ham brought Julen Lopetegui to the London Stadium to replace David Moyes in the summer.

With the Hammers owners said to be very unhappy right now, Julen Lopetegui has allegedly assured them that he will turn things around quickly.

The 58-year-old is clearly feeling the pressure in his role as West Ham manager.

He came out after the Liverpool game and said his side came close to winning the match – we lost 5-1 by the way!

I just hope that Lopetegui is working the players really hard in training, with a clear plan of how to tackle the game against Brentford on Saturday.

The Bees clash is certainly a must-not lose. If the Hammers do suffer a defeat on Saturday, things could turn toxic real fast.

Give Me Sport have even claimed that the Spaniard could well be sacked, if indeed the poor results continue.

But how much time will the Spaniard actually be given?

Julen Lopetegui must get things right at West Ham quickly

The Spaniard has overseen some truly horrendous performances so far this season.

The style of football hasn’t improved from the David Moyes days as yet, and the results have been dreadful as well.

So how long could Lopetegui actually be given to prove to everyone that he is the man we need to take our club to the next level?

Athletic journalist Roshane Thomas has suggested that Lopetegui has to turn things around fairly quickly.

Thomas responded when asked how long he thinks Lopetegui will be given to get things right.

He tweeted, November/December if we keep losing like this.

That’s a fair assessment from Thomas I would say.

Lopetegui has got to get West Ham firing

The Hammers face some really tough games over the next month or so, with trips to Brentford and Tottenham and home clashes with Ipswich Town and Manchester United to come before the end of October.

A couple of wins from those games would get us back on track, but we really need to start seeing a big improvement in the performances in my opinion.

I get that it’s hard to gel so many new signings together quickly, but the displays really have been atrocious on the most part.

Julen Lopetegui has to settle on his best starting XI and then go from there. He has chopped and changed things far too much for my liking already.

Now’s the time for some consistency from the manager and his players. Julen Lopetegui has a lot of work to do if he is to turn things around at West Ham.

However, it’s still very early days – let’s see where we are in two month’s time before properly judging him.
