History-making NFL coach Durde shares West Ham revelation

Aden Durde has been appointed as the new defensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks.

And in his high profile unveiling, Durde revealed – and had to defend the fact – he is a big West Ham fan.

The appointment has made Durde the first British coordinator in NFL history.

But when he was presented to the press they had one very important question to ask the London-born coach: “Do you have a soccer team?”

“West Ham,” Durde said proudly with a big grin.

‘What’s wrong with that!?”

The gathered media were clearly underwhelmed judging by their reaction prompting Durde to jokingly threaten to walk out of the press conference.

“What’s wrong with that!?” Durde reacted arms outstretched.

“Come on! Who do you want me to say? No, I’m done, I’m done!”

Perhaps he can give his beloved Hammers some defensive tips?

Perhaps the press groan was the result of West Ham’s 6-0 drubbing at home to Arsenal last weekend.

That was the Hammers’ biggest home league defeat for 61 years.

So the Seahawks media might be worried their new defensive coordinator will have those West Ham traits!

On a serious note, though, this is a huge achievement which cannot be understated.

West Ham fan Durde has had a swift rise in the NFL. He started as a quality control coach in 2018 before joining the Dallas Cowboys.

Now, in just three years, he’s become one of the most respected positional coaches in the league. And as such he was also reportedly coveted by also the Green Bay Packers, the Los Angeles Rams and the Atlanta Falcons.

Perhaps West Ham can get him down to the London Stadium in the NFL off-season to help coordinate David Moyes’ defence!
