With a crisis in central midfield, West Ham fans have been discussing potential January signings.

There have been many names banded around, such as Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Danny Drinkwater.

But a new name popped up on social media yesterday. West Ham fans were in discussion over whether Tottenham Hotspur man Victor Wanyama would be a good addition.

Midfield crisis

Ahead of tomorrow’s cup clash with Tottenham, Declan Rice is the only eligible central midfielder.

Mark Noble is out with suspension for three matches, worsening an injury crisis in East London.

Firstly, Carlos Sanchez and Jack Wilshere have been ruled out with long-term injuries recently.

And they joined Manuel Lanzini on the sidelines. Furthermore, Pedro Obiang has struggled lately with an injury.

It is clear that a new central midfielder is needed in January.

Wanyama could move away from Spurs this January after falling down the pecking order.

Injuries have held the Kenya international back but when fit, he is a dominant midfield man.

Offering bundles of energy, tough tackling and tenacity in midfield, he is the perfect holding midfielder for a mid-table Premier League side.

But would Spurs do business with the Hammers? Here is what West Ham fans said about this potential deal.
