Gary Lineker has been waxing lyrical over West Ham United manager Nuno Espirito Santo, who took over the reins from Graham Potter.

When he took over, the Hammers were in 19th place, facing an immediate threat of relegation.

Now, after the 2-2 draw against Bournemouth over the weekend, West Ham United are in a better place and are currently 17th.

Gary Lineker believes West Ham have improved under Nuno Espirito Santo

Gary Lineker and The Rest Is Football team were reviewing the weekend’s action in the Premier League, primarily talking about Arsenal’s big win against Tottenham and also Liverpool’s downfall.

However, he managed to single out Nuno for praise and lauded him for improving things at the London Stadium.

He said: “It’s funny, isn’t it? That Sean Dyche is doing well and Nuno Espirito Santo is doing pretty well at West Ham. You can see that they’ve improved.”

The Portuguese joined at the end of September, with Potter’s side losing four of their first five matches.

Since his arrival, they have played as a unit and appear to be heading in the right direction to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

How Callum Wilson has improved under Nuno at West Ham

One player who’s certainly reaping the benefits of Nuno’s arrival at the London Stadium is Callum Wilson.

The 33-year-old was seldom utilised under Potter, but has now become one of the first names on the team sheet for the Portuguese.

He even found the back of the net twice against his former club Bournemouth at the weekend and appears to be enjoying his football.

While he may not have completed a single pass in the game, Nuno has asked him to stay within the width of the 18-yard area and stretch opposition defences as much as he can.

Wilson may be capable of getting involved in the build-up, but the Hammers boss believes he’s at his best inside the penalty area and one can see that it’s benefiting him and the rest of the team.

Fans will be hoping that another striker joins in January, so the former Bournemouth forward can be more of an impact substitute than a regular starter.
