Flawed ex-Premier League manager is the ‘obvious replacement’ for Julen Lopetegui

Julen Lopetegui seems to be living on borrowed time at West Ham United at the moment.

West Ham have struggled badly this season and many fans are asking, why on earth didn’t we push the boat out for a manager with more flair than Julen Lopetegui?

The Hammers head coach is dull in every sense, and the football has been a reflection of his personality.

His days at the London Stadium could well be numbered, and it has been claimed that Julen Lopetegui faces the sack if results don’t improve quickly

If the 58-year-old is moved on, it would surprise nobody – his West Ham team have racked up just 12 points from their opening 11 Premier League games.

It has been claimed that there is conflict behind the scenes, with Lopetegui and Tim Steidten failing to see eye-to-eye on certain signings.

The atmosphere is slowly turning toxic, and with games against Newcastle and Arsenal to come immediately after the international break, things are looking bleak right now.

If we do lose heavily in both of those matches, Lopetegui will surely be done at the London Stadium.

But who are the Hammers owners looking at to potentially replace the Spaniard?

The biggest problem we have right now is our lack of footballing identity.

If we could all see an obvious plan and understand what Lopetegui is trying to do, we could suffer some poor results.

However, there is a serious lack of any kind of clear vision of how to improve things/.

The results have obviously been nowhere near good enough, but it could be argued;” that the performances have been even more concerning.

We can’t continue to expect things will magically improve, without any evidence to suggest that.

It’s time for a change if you ask me.

According to a report from i News, the currently out of work Graham Potter is the ‘obvious replacement’ for Lopetegui.

The website describe Potter as flawed, and are unsure whether the West Ham owners would be ready to take a punt on him.

I beg to differ though – the former Brighton and Chelsea boss is absolutely perfect for us, and he’s available on a free!

If the West Ham owners go out on a limb and sack Lopetegui, Potter has to be the man to come in and replace him, if we really want a different footballing style to what we’ve ever had at the club.

What Graham Potter would bring to West Ham

Potter built his reputation on a possession-based system that involves incredible amounts of movement and players interchanging positions.

He’s versatile as well, and has been known to use many different systems throughout games.

In my personal opinion, he wasn’t given enough time to bed in his ideas properly at Chelsea.

That’s the thing – we will all have to be very patient if Graham Potter replaces Julen Lopetegui at West Ham.

Change certainly won’t happen overnight due to his extremely complicated methods and his demands of players in specific roles.

One thing’s for sure, he would bring a totally different approach to what Lopetegui is serving up right now.

The future can still be very bright for West Ham, but the owners cannot continue to allow Lopetegui to plunge us further into disarray.

I believe Graham Potter is the man who could take us to the next level entirely, but whether the Hammers board agree with that notion or not remains to be seen.
