A leading journalist says Amanda Staveley’s US-backed consortium is still interested in a West Ham takeover, potentially giving David Sullivan a ‘big decision’ to make.
West Ham fans protested all season for the removal of David Sullivan and Karren Brady.
The latter resigned with immediate effect recently and Hammers supporters feel it is a case of one down, one to go.
Sullivan and fellow co-owner Daniel Kretinsky both upped their stakes to over 40 per cent each by buying up portions of the Gold family’s stake before Brady departed.
Staveley still eyes West Ham takeover says journalist
Kretinsky and Sullivan were both named in the top 150 on The Sunday Times Rich List 2026 this month, with West Ham’s ownership worth a combined £10 billion.
There has been speculation Kretinsky and Sullivan increased their stakes to make more money from an impending sale.

At the end of last month, it was claimed Amanda Staveley and a team of US backers were eyeing a bid for West Ham.
Hammers News exclusively brought you West Ham’s response to the Staveley takeover claim – essentially that Sullivan was focused on ‘buying more shares, not selling’.

That was before the club was relegated to the Championship, though.
Amanda Staveley has amassed her own personal takeover war chest of £500m from the deal which saw the Saudi PIF take over Newcastle.
She has wanted in at another club ever since leaving Newcastle and saw talks with Spurs come to nothing earlier this season.
Tottenham have reiterated they are not for sale having survived at West Ham’s expense.
Nixon says Sullivan faces ‘big decision’ on selling Hammers
Staveley’s US consortium are said to prefer a London club and there have been claims they would not be put off by relegation.
In fact it was claimed demotion could make a Staveley-led West Ham takeover more likely as it would be cheaper.
Which players could actually BENEFIT from a Championship season? 🤨
And the financier still has eyes on a West Ham takeover as Sullivan faces a ‘big decision’ according to the journalist who first broke the news of Staveley’s interest.
Alan Nixon has taken to social media to state that Staveley and her backers are still on the hunt for a club and it will give Sullivan a decision to make on whether to cash in, albeit for less money, with his popularity at an all-time low.

“Sullivan has a big call here,” Nixon said on X.
“Depends what he wants, (he’s) selling a Championship club now.
“She’s trying to put bid group together for a club or even two,” Nixon added when asked if Staveley is still interested.
“She’s a broker, an agent (for a consortium).
“Impossible to say (how likely it is West Ham will be sold). But probably more likely now.
“However it won’t be a quick or easy process.”
West Ham appeared to drop a big hint over Sullivan’s future in the wake of relegation, though.
The Hammers board highlighted Sullivan’s record of promotion from the Championship when discussing Nuno’s future and the FFP complications facing the club.
