Given the history between them there is already plenty riding on West Ham’s reunion with David Moyes at Everton next month.
West Ham go to Goodison Park for the last time ever in three weeks before Everton move to their new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium.
There they will face former boss David Moyes as he continues to pile pressure on West Ham’s owners.
The Scot has sparked a sensational turnaround since taking over at Everton after the Hammers beat them to Graham Potter.
While Potter has just one win from six games so far, Moyes has given plenty of ammunition to those who told West Ham to ‘be careful what they wish for’.
The Toffees have risen above West Ham within a month after four wins, a draw and one defeat from his six Premier League games.
Moyes did a marvellous job overall in east London, leading West Ham on a meteoric rise to three successive seasons of European football and a first trophy in 43 years.
Now he seems to be inspiring a similar upturn in fortunes back at Everton.

It is looking like 33 points will guarantee Premier League safety this season.
Although relegation has never really looked a legitimate threat to the Hammers, their form and results dictate it would be in most seasons.
Potter’s side have a 10-point gap over Ipswich and Leicester in 18th and 19th respectively.
West Ham have to play Arsenal, Leicester and Newcastle next.
Those games against the Gunners and Magpies look seriously tough.
Leicester should be winnable – although they beat West Ham in Ruud van Nistelrooy’s first game.
Victory over the Foxes at the London Stadium may put West Ham on 30 points if Arsenal ends in defeat.
With Newcastle next after that, it could ironically come down to the game against Moyes’ Everton for the Irons to unofficially seal safety.
Well there is now some very good news on the horizon for that crunch clash.

Potter has not had much luck with injuries or results since taking over West Ham last month.
He was without Michail Antonio, Jean-Clair Todibo and Jarrod Bowen when he arrived.
Potter then lost Niclas Fullkrug and Crysencio Summerville in the first half of his first game, 24 hours after taking his first training session.
Edson Alvarez had to sit out a game, Vladimir Coufal is injured and Potter has now twice lost Lucas Paqueta.
Paqueta’s new ankle injury saw him ruled out until April – when West Ham play their first game after the March international break away at Wolves.
Recently Potter revealed Summerville suffered a setback in his recovery from a hamstring injury which would keep him out until that game too.
West Ham’s Summerville, Fullkrug and Paqueta ‘back for Everton’
Fullkrug has been stepping up his Hammers rehabilitation in the Middle East but was another ruled out until April at the earliest.
But now Claret and Hugh claim that Summerville, Fullkrug and Paqueta all look set for earlier than expected returns for the ‘Moyes derby’.
The site of the late Hugh Southon counts majority owner David Sullivan among its contacts.
And it states Summerville, Fullkrug and Paqueta are on course to make it back for that potentially crucial final game before the international break.
That is quite simply a monumental boost for Potter and the team.
By then Evan Ferguson will hopefully be fit to be starting every game. But it won’t hurt to have Fullkrug’s experience on the bench.
Summerville looked electric under Potter in that first game and the manager has stated how much he rates the flying Dutchman.
Paqueta has also been West Ham’s most improved player under Potter.
Besides needing three points to ease any highly unlikely prospect of a disastrous relegation, West Ham fans would dearly love to get one over on Moyes.
Not only because the club seems to have become a kicking post over their former manager – who himself admitted it was time for him to leave West Ham at the end of last season.
But also as a measure of revenge after a shocking new Moyes striker revelation at West Ham.
