West Ham United star Declan Rice has called for people to show his big mate Mason Mount more respect.

Senior Man United source delivers exciting verdict to insider over Lingard’s West Ham future

Chelsea have long been linked with a move for West Ham hero and boyhood Blue Rice.

Chelsea competition had Hammers fans dreaming of Rice and Mount reunion

Rice and his best friend Mount came through Chelsea’s academy together.

And West Ham’s captain has also played alongside Mount for England too.

The pair have admitted they would love to one day join forces again at club level.

Given the intense competition for places at money being spent on players at Chelsea, West Ham fans dreamed that might be at the London Stadium one day.

Particularly when reports suggested new Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel may not fancy Mount upon first taking over at Stamford Bridge.

Mount in the shadow of other names as Rice demands more respect

While the likes of Jack Grealish and James Maddison have their names up in lights, Mount seems to attract less headlines.

But he saw to that on Thursday night with a superb goal in Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Liverpool.

It was a result that moved Chelsea above West Ham in the race for Europe.

Regardless, West Ham matchday captain Rice took to Twitter to call out those who have doubted his best friend.

“I don’t want to hear no more negativity on Mason Mount’s name again,” Rice said on Twitter alongside a laughing emoji.

“Proving everyone wrong week in week out.”

Great to see Dec stick up for his pal, but Hammers don’t want him doing too well!

We don’t want him doing too well, though, Dec.

He could end up costing West Ham a place in Europe!

Mount is clearly a class player destined for a long and successful career.

Unfortunately for West Ham that is very likely to be with Chelsea.

But let’s hope Declan can enjoy an equally lengthy career and plenty of relative success with West Ham too.
